Community

Sound ethics and values underpin Lawrance Private Wealth's (LPW) approach to its business activities and engagement with the community.

Our goal is to give back to the community that supports our business.

At LPW, we pride ourselves on being an active participant of the local community by contributing to and sponsoring local sporting clubs and helping and donating to charitable causes.

We strongly focus on charitable contribution, where we encourage employees of LPW to participate in organisations, including fundraising and donation of time to philanthropic causes of their choice.

In turn, LPW sponsors, promotes and helps raise funds.

We have several current initiatives and charitable contributions with which our values of 'enhancing the human connection and community participation' align.

To date, LPW has made donations to a range of charitable, welfare and support organisations, and will continue to share its success with those in need.

Current engagements

Canberra City Cricket Club

LPW is a long-term sponsor and supporter of cricket in the ACT from the early days when Adam was the inaugural and foundation president of the Yabbies Cricket Club and then again for the merged Canberra City Cricket Club, established in 2016.

Fostering community spirit and engagement is a core value of LPW.

Canberra City Cricket Club is one of Canberra's fastest growing park cricket clubs.

We field teams in most grades of the Canberra City and Suburban Cricket Association and were established in 2016 through a merger of the Yabbies Cricket Club (established 2011) and the RUC Ravens Cricket Club (established 2005).

Canberra Royals Volleyball Club

The values of Community, Respect and Enjoyment are critical to a successful organisation.

LPW is a foundational sponsor and proud supporter of the now largest ACT-based Volleyball club, established in 2020.

Royals Volleyball Club was founded in a sporting partnership with Canberra Royals Rugby Union Football Club and is built on solid values.

Charitable Work

Menslink

Menslink has supported young men in the Canberra region for over fifteen years through free counselling, volunteer mentoring and education programs.

In that time, they have helped thousands of young guys get through tough or lonely times with the least amount of pain or harm to themselves or those around them. They help young blokes reach their full potential and become the great adult men they want to be because they believe everything is possible for them, their families, their mates, and our community.

Menslink is a Canberra-based charity that supports young men across our region in three ways:

Encouraging them to speak up and get help, or inspire their mates to get help, through educational sessions in schools and other community groups;

Providing intensive short-term counselling to help them get through stressful life events with the least amount of harm to themselves and those around them; and

Longer-term mentoring support from positive male role models, especially for young guys who are socially isolated or for the 17% of young men who no longer live with their father.

The Stats:

Unfortunately, young men are overwhelmingly represented in adverse community mental health statistics:

  • School dropout rates are nearly double

  • Youth unemployment is 15% higherThe juvenile justice system has a 9:1 ratio, rising to more than 50:1 in the adult system

  • 4 in 5 suicides are men, and it remains the leading cause of male death in every age group from 15-44. Each year, more young men die by their own hands than our entire national road toll.

  • Supporting and helping young men significantly benefits the broader community, not just the male population.

Menslink Great Walk

Adam will participate in a five-day, 145km walk across the nation's capital and raise $10,000 for contributions to Menslink.

These funds will support programs that help young men and their families in the Canberra community through volunteer mentoring, counselling and school programs.

 Why donate:

  • To break the cycle of destroyed families and opportunities.

  • To reduce the instance of domestic violence in the community.

  • To recognise the pain and suffering that has been avoided thanks to organisations like Menslink.

  • To increase the awareness of the importance of appropriate role models in the community.

  • To change the lives of young men in our community who can then change the lives of others for the better.

LPW owner and Director, Adam Lawrance:

"There was a time when I would not even walk to the pub, let alone for anyone else"

"If I can walk 145 km, then anything is possible!

All donations of more than $500 will be matched.
